My name is Scott Yardley, and since I'm asking you to vote for me it is only fair that I introduce myself. I am a
native South Floridian, and I have been living in the city of Margate for the past 14 years and District 95 for the
past 20 years. I have been married to my beautiful wife, Catherine, for 17 years. We have also been blessed with
eight wonderful children, and by God's grace we have managed to stay together, fed, and healthy. Having such a
large family, I know firsthand what it is like to live within a budget (something I feel our legislators have yet to
learn). I am not accustomed to luxury, and learned early on from watching my father that if I wanted something
bad enough I needed to work for it just as hard. Some examples of this from my own life are that I paid for my
own way through college, as well as served my country for four years in the Army as a Special Forces "Green
Beret."
I admit that I am new to politics, but with the mess our current administration has left us in I do not see that as a
bad thing. I have good people who support me, and I am always willing to listen to the concerns of my
neighbors. My primary concern with the state of Florida is the lack of fiscal responsibility and concern from our
so-called leaders. With the tax increases they have placed upon our families, they have apparently forgotten
what it is like to scrimp and save. Their solution to this financial crisis has been to cut our services and raise our
taxes. Meanwhile, they continue to give themselves an automatic raise every year.
I understand the election for District 95 is not until 2010, but I can't wait around for our legislators to realize that
their wasteful spending of our tax dollars and unfunded mandates have only contributed to leaving our country
in the worst recession since the Great Depression.
To get through all of the problems we now have to face, we need to come together and get our community back
on track ourselves. We need to make sure we will be there for our neighbors so we can count on them being
there for us. We also need a leader who represents the people in his district and hasn't lost sight of what those
needs are. With your support, I will be that leader.
Look forward to my monthly updates as we move through this campaign together, and please consider donating
whatever you can spare to help me get elected. Together we can bring back responsible government.
